Anti-wrinkle injections

  • Is this Treatment Safe?

Emma is rigorous in her commitment to safety and follows strict medical protocols. Anti-wrinkle injections are very safe and have been practised for many years not only in cosmetics but also for medical conditions with over 21 different uses including migraines, excessive sweating, incontinence, and muscle spasm.

  • Are Anti-Wrinkle treatments painful?

Everyone has a slightly different sensitivity to the feeling of a fine needle in the skin, but most people only find this very mild/if anything at all.  The treatment is over in minutes

  • How much downtime is there after treatments?

With any injectable treatment there is a small risk of bruising, localised bleeding and swelling. This risk is much less with anti-wrinkle injections. Any swelling bruising will subside in the following few days.

  • When will I see results and what if I am not happy?

Emma is very experienced and will manage your expectations prior to the treatment. It is not a “one size fits all” and everybody reacts slightly differently but overall results may be seen in 3-4 days following your treatment. The full effect will take 10-14 days and you will be offered a follow-up appointment where Emma will review your treatment, (topping up if needed) ensuring you are satisfied.

  • Is there anything serious in terms of side-effects and how do I know if this is normal?

After your treatment, the common side-effects are mild swelling and slight redness-very occasionally a small amount of minimal bruising. You will read through a consent form which explains all of the side-effects and risks associated with anti-wrinkle injections. Emma will discuss your concerns and will not proceed unless you are 100% happy to do so.

All anti-wrinkle injections such as botox, azzalure and bocouture are prescription only medicines you must be seen by a doctor, dentist, or nurse prescriber. It is not illegal for anyone to administer medicines, even by injection, but it is illegal to do so without a prescription and in order to prescribe for you, the prescribing nurse, doctor or dentist MUST see you and assess you face to face. If not, they are in breach of their professional standards.

Dermal Fillers

  • Are dermal fillers safe?

All risks and complications will be discussed in depth with you before your treatment. To ensure this safety is maintained your treatment should be carried out by a healthcare professional such as Emma with specialist training. If there is even a slight risk that the treatment is not suitable for you then Emma will not perform it-so don’t worry you are in safe hands!

  • What are common side-effects?

These may include some Bruising, Redness, Swelling, Itching and Tenderness but not always-each individual is different. These side-effects if experienced are self-limited and will settle within a few days.

  • How long do dermal filler treatments take and are they painful?

A topical local anaesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment areas prior to the treatment which will make it a lot more comfortable. Everybody’s pain threshold is different and of course each individual will find the treatment different in terms of discomfort. Most clients find that it is not too bad and over relatively quickly

  • How long will the fillers last?

Longevity does vary between products, but the product Emma uses can last anything between 12-18 months

  • What if I am not happy?

This is rare as the treatment and your expectations are fully discussed before going ahead. However, dermal fillers are semi-permanent, and the effects of the procedure can be reversed by dissolving the filler if necessary

SUNEKOS

  • Is SuneKos safe?

Yes, SuneKos has a good safety profile. It is very rare to get serious complications. Emma is a fully trained, insured nurse prescriber with extensive experience and the skills to handle possible complications.

  • Are there side effects to SuneKos?

Mild swelling and bruising are the most common potential side effects immediately following treatment.

Consultations are an important part any treatment process in allowing you to understand the treatment and to establish if the benefits of the treatment are outweighed by any possible side effects. During your consultation Emma will advise whether this treatment is appropriate for you, as well as any suitable alternative treatments. She will discuss any possible side effects and questions you may have. She will discuss with you any aftercare you should follow.

  • Does the SuneKos treatment hurt?

The level of discomfort is usually found to be mild and tolerable by patients. The most common feedback we receive is that the skin feels warm immediately following the injections. We understand that that each person’s tolerance to pain is different and you will be offered local anaesthetic cream (advisable to minimise discomfort) prior to the procedure.

  • How long does SuneKos last?

As with most treatments, this can vary depending on where you have treated your lifestyle and your metabolic rate; these factors usually influence the longevity of your results. For example, in our experience, those who smoke or frequently do cardio work-outs can break-down hyaluronic acid faster than those who do not.

The guidelines are to have maintenance treatments 4 to 7 months after your full treatment.

AQUALYX

  • Is Aqualyx suitable for me?

If you are maintaining a healthy lifestyle and are close to your ideal body weight but have isolated stubborn areas of fat, then Aqualyx might be suitable. Popular areas that we treat are double chins, saddlebags, inner thighs, love handles, back and bra folds, and the abdomen.

This treatment is not intended for weight loss. The area needs to have a good blood supply to it, so it is not suitable for those with a large overhang of loose tissue. We generally recommend treatments areas to be roughly the size of the hand palm.

  • Is the treatment painful and how long does it take?

Aqualyx can be an uncomfortable procedure in the body but much less so in the face. Emma however will numb the areas with topical local anaesthetic and always mixes the aqualyx  with lidocaine ( local anaesthetic) which helps to minimise and manage pain.

The appointment will last approximately one hour but may be less depending on the area treated.

  • How long is the recovery period?

Immediately after treatment, you may appear red and swollen, occasionally irritated with possible bruising on the areas treated. Your skin may feel tender for a few days but this will subside after 3-5 days.

You may wish to organise time away from work or social engagements for 72 hours.

The injected area may feel tender and firm for up to 4 weeks.

  • How soon will I see results? How many treatments will I need?

The number of Aqualyx treatments required varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit. Typically 1-3 treatments for small areas such as under the chin and 2-6 treatments for larger areas such as the thighs and stomach.

Treatments are spaced at 4 weekly intervals. Your results will show approximately 4-6 weeks after your final treatment. Please note results differ from client to client and you may need more than one treatment to achieve the best outcome.

  • Are the results permanent?

Whilst the body can regenerate fat cells, the process is very slow. Once fat cells are removed from a localised area your results are as good as permanent.

However of you do not maintain a healthy lifestyle then you may put on weight on other areas where fat cells remain.
